Choosing the right DJ for your event

Choosing your entertainment is one of the most important decisions a bride and groom or a party host will have to ensure their event will be a success. Remember, the host of the event wants to be sure their guests are having the time of their lives, and the entertainment they choose will determine that level of success.

When shopping for entertainment, consider several factors in selecting a DJ.

  1. Will the DJ emphasize and a professional relationship with his clients? The last thing you need is to meet your DJ for the first time at the start of the event, and have the person you hired for your entertainment misprounounce names and fall short of your expectations.
  2.  Is the disc jockey organized? Does he provide a detailed questionnaire for the clients to fill out to outline the details of the event? Does he provide a contract and references? Is he covered by liability insurance? Does he have backup equipment at his disposal?
  3. Does the DJ have the knowledge and experience to play music for every age group, and, more importantly, does he have the timing and instincts to know what to play, and when to play it?
  4. Does the disc jockey have an extensive music library with the variety a client is looking for?
  5. Does the DJ have the personality to be the emcee of the event, and the ability to coordinate with the other professionals who are working there?
  6. Does the DJ have the sound and light equipment to handle events of any size, and is the equipment state of the art?
  7. Does the disc jockey make you feel confident and comfortable?

According to Modern Bride Magazine, only five (5) percent of a wedding budget will be spent on entertainment. But over twice the number of your guests will remember your entertainment choice more than they remember anything else about your wedding reception.

Make your choice carefully and consider not just the price, but the person behind the product.
